Why Dennis Quaid ditched once-‘fantastic’ LA for Nashville

For Dennis Quaid, his way of life in Nashville has more substance.

The “Far from Heaven” actor, 72, shared the real reason why he and wife Laura Savoie, 33, ditched his longtime residence in Los Angeles in 2020 for Tennessee.

“It used to be such a great town and the ’90s was nice,” Quaid told Fox News Digital at CMA Fest over the weekend.

He added that LA has “been kind of going downhill” lately and he “feel[s] like people pay these taxes for no services.”

Quaid explained that the 2025 wildfires exposed “all those things that go on that should be taken care of.”

At the time, Quaid was forced to evacuate his Brentwood neighborhood home in LA.

More than 18,000 homes and structures were destroyed by the flames while 31 people died.

“So people are — people are angry and half angry, and they’re half kind of feel like giving up, to tell you the truth,” Quaid continued to the outlet.

Calling himself “one of thousands” who has fled the City of Angels, the “Parent Trap” star insisted he really “hope[s] the town comes back.”

“I really do. It used to be such a fantastic town. It was. It was a great community, too. And something’s happened. People need to be inspired there.”

Quaid also weighed in on the LA mayoral race, stating, “I hope Pratt wins.”

When previously asked by the same outlet why he was supporting the reality star’s campaign for mayor of the second largest city in the U.S. in May, Quaid retorted, Why? What are you talking about? Why? Just look around, man.”

However, as of Monday night, the top two candidates advancing to the November runoff are Karen Bass, the incumbent mayor, and Nithya Raman.

Pratt, 42, has yet to comment on his current standing in the race.

The “Hills” alum and wife Heidi Montag’s Pacific Palisades home was one of many that burned down in the catastrophic fires.
