Future of ‘Heated Rivalry’ revealed ahead of highly anticipated Season 2

“Heated Rivalry” fans, your stay at the cottage has been extended.

The steamy breakout gay hockey romance series isn’t just in the midst of filming its highly anticipated second season, as Deadline reports that it’s concurrently filming a third season.

Not only that, but the outlet’s sources tell it that a movie is set to be filmed this December as well.

“Heated Rivalry” is reportedly filming Season 2 and 3 back-to-back and is set to film a movie next month, per Deadline. (Pictured above: Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams in Season 1 of “Heated Rivalry” as Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander.) HBO

Deadline’s insiders note that the film is described as a Christmas special or a holiday-themed episode, and the plan is for it to be released theatrically next December.

Sources tell the publication that Season 1 leads Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams’ beloved characters, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, are not in the movie.

Instead, rumor is that François Arnaud and Robbie G.K.’s breakout characters from Season 1, Scott Hunter and Christopher “Kip” Grady, will be the focus.

Canadian streamer Crave, the home network for “Heated Rivalry,” told Page Six Saturday evening, “We have no projects to confirm.” (The show streams on HBO in the US.)

Rachel Reid, the author of the “Game Changers” book series that “Heated Rivalry” is part of, notably wrote a short story titled “Merry Christmas, Scott and Kip!” that appears to no longer be mentioned on her website.

Interestingly, the “Game Changers Wiki” community and a Reddit page both note that the short story was once available to download on Reid’s website but is no longer available and has seemingly been scrubbed.

“Heated Rivalry” took the world by storm when it aired its first season in late 2025, immediately catapulting it’s lead actors to international acclaim.

Dylan Walsh, who plays Shane’s dad on the show, previously made headlines when he fueled speculation that Seasons 2 and 3 were filming back-to-back in a leaked Cameo video, in which he shared that the show was shooting 12 episodes in Canada.

Season 1 famously had only six episodes, and showrunner Jacob Tierny confirmed to Andy Cohen on the Bravo host’s SiriusXM show last month that Season 2 would follow suit.

Many fans took that to suggest that Season 3 might also be filming six episodes as well.
