Rachel Zoe’s first call after splitting from her husband, Rodger Berman, was Jennifer Garner — because she needed a good divorce lawyer.
The fashion designer revealed that besides her pal Garner — who she’s been close with ever since styling her for the 2003 Emmys — no one knew that her and Berman were breaking up at first.
“Her reaction was so interesting and I’ll never forget it,” Zoe recalled during her Monday appearance on the “Inside Edit” podcast. “She was like, ‘You must be so exhausted.’ And I knew what she meant by it. And I was, I really was so exhausted.”
Garner ended up recommending celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, whom she used during her own split from Ben Affleck, and who has also worked with Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian and Johnny Depp.
Speaking on her decision to end her marriage of 26 years, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star said she “knew it was over because [she] was spending more time sad than happy.”
“The person that I never went anywhere without, I wanted to go without,” she continued. “I started going to things alone or with friends, and that was a symbol to me.”
Zoe explained that she watched so many friends have “separate lives from their husbands” and that those were the couples that “always ended up divorced,” so when her lifestyle began mirroring that, she knew her relationship with Berman was over.
Zoe, 54, and Berman, 55, announced their separation in September 2024. The exes share sons Skyler, 14, and Kasius, 10.
The “Zoe Project” alum said that “immediately” after she told her boys about the split, they said to her, “You’re going to be happier this way, mom.”
The reality star also revealed that “an absolute myriad of bad decisions” led her to officially file to end their marriage in July 2025 during a January episode of “RHOBH.”
In a previous episode, the “Housewife” newbie confessed that there were “a lot of reasons [their] relationship was strained,” noting that her “greatest regret would probably be working together.”
“Lines got crossed. The person that I was with my whole adult life, in many ways, was unrecognizable,” she added. “Ultimately, that person didn’t feel right around me or around my kids.”
