Macaulay Culkin
The actor portrayed Kevin McCallister, the on-screen son of O’Hara and Heard.
Culkin and O’Hara remained close over the years, with the actress telling Us Weekly in 2025: “He’s just a lovely young man. I just care about him. I care for him. I care about him. I’m so happy that he’s doing so well. … He’s got a lovely family, his own little family that he’s starting. He is a sweet young man.”
“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you,” he wrote on Instagram Friday beneath a shot of the duo in “Home Alone” and a side-by-side from his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2023.
“But I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later.”
Chris Columbus
“Today we lost Catherine O’Hara. I’m stunned and heartbroken, along with the rest of the world,” the “Home Alone” director penned via Instagram on Friday.
“I was an obsessive fan of Catherine’s brilliant comedic work on ‘SCTV’ and was thrilled when she agreed to play Kevin’s Mom in ‘Home Alone.’”
“What most people don’t realize is that Catherine carries the weight of 50% of that film,” Columbus continued. “The movie simply would not work without her extraordinary performance. Catherine grounds the picture with a profound emotional depth. I will miss her greatly.”
Devin Ratray
Ratray, who portrayed O’Hara’s onscreen son Buzz McCallister, mourned his movie mom on Instagram Friday.
“One of the greatest people I ever met,” Ratray wrote over a picture of the two from the ’90s.
Ratray appeared in the first two “Home Alone” movies. He also reprised his role in the 2021 sequel, “Home Sweet Home Alone.”
