Marc Jacobs isn’t getting any California love from billboard queen Angelyne, it seems.
The designer recently debuted his new “The City” tote collection with bags inspired by Paris, New York and LA — featuring a drawing of a busty woman seductively posing above Hollywood signage.
Eagle-eyed fans of Angelyne noticed a striking similarity to one of her famous billboards, and are crying foul.
Music producer and DJ Cazwell, who is very clearly a fan of the “Bimbo Baby” singer also took notice.
On Tuesday, he posted a reel of Angelyne reposting comments like, “@marcjacobs either compensate angelyne or stop. This is thievery.”
The Hollywood icon also reposted London based street artist, Pegasus, who wrote they were “shocked at the poor execution” on the bag.
“Girl be angry with the fact they made you look like Gumby. Let’s partner up and create a bag worth carrying,” they wrote.
Cazwell, who said he once bought an Angelyne T-shirt out of the trunk of one of her pink Corvettes for $40, advised Jacobs “to put some money inside the pockets of someone, who clearly has inspired you. I hope you make the right choice.”
Angelyne’s rise to ’80s billboard stardom in LA was chronicled in the 2022 Peacock series “Angelyne,” starring Emmy Rossum.
Other than reposting her fan’s reactions, the mysterious star, who ran for governor of California twice, hasn’t spoken out about Jacobs’ totes. But she’s still not one to bite her tongue historically.
In an interview with Inside Edition at the time, Angelyne said she refused to watch Rossum’s series. “It doesn’t do me justice. Would you be flattered if someone played you and misrepresented you?” she said.
She further said in a seperate post, “It is my true feeling and opinion that even though people can dress up like me — and that’s wonderful — but I think they should never, ever, ever pretend to be Angelyne.”
A male voice message greeted us when we called the star, and gave us the option to fax or leave a “magnificent message.”
We hope our message was magnificent enough to get a warm welcome from the LA icon when the California Post makes it debut on Jan. 26.
A rep for Jacobs did not get back to us.
